Quick and Easy Stove Top Garlic Bread

This evening I had a break through. After 18months of moaning and groaning about not having an oven in my tiny Japanese corridor kitchen I decided to attempt to make something I deemed only possible with an oven.

Now, I know I could just pan fry up some bread in garlic butter and be over with it but there's something about that crispy outside mixed with a soft inside that you get with oven baked garlic bread.

So today I decided to give my plan a go and the results were brilliant.

All it takes is 2 ingredients and 4 easy steps!

Instruments:
Stove top
Tinfoil
Pan
Large Metal Bowl

Ingredients:
Any Ol' Baguette
Garlic Butter (or if you have a bit more time on your hands combine butter and some crushed and chopped garlic)

Cooking Time = 15-20mins
Prep - 5mins
Baking - 10-15mins

Plain baguette
'Garlic Margarine' - since Japan doesn't do butter
  1. First up! Slice your baguette almost (but not quite) to the bottom at 1-2cm intervals. I did 2cms to ensure plenty of soft bread in each bite.
※Make sure you don't cut right the way to the bottom so that 1) the butter won't all run out the bottom and 2) it'll be a nifty pull away type treat.

     2.   Next, take your garlic butter and spread (to your own taste) some in each slice.

Slit the bread at 1-2cm intervals and spread that garlic butter inbetween
     3.     Now you can take your bread and wrap it up in tinfoil making sure that it's all covered and tucked in.

Wrap it up
     4.     Now all you need to do is turn the heat to a medium heat and cover it with your metal bowl. Make sure your bowl fits inside the pan and will give you your own DIY oven space to bake the bread. After 10-15mins you should have a lovely warm garlic log awaiting a comfortable spot in your stomach.

Cover it up
Here's how mine turned out:
Crispy perfection

oooooh just look at that melted deliciousness
So tasty!!! Definitely give it a go and let me know how you get on. Now to see if I can roast a chicken....
