June 29th 2015, Monday ~Mushroom Pizza Recipe~

Ohoho I have stumbled upon a delicious keto treat! Low carb, vegetarian (if you choose), perfect to make with any leftovers.

I had seen similar mushroom pizza on Pinterest and always wanted to try it but they always used portobello mushrooms and I don't have access to those here in Japan. I do, however, have access to shiitake and I found some suitably large ones so I thought it was time to give it a go.

June 28th 2015, Sunday

How is it another Sunday already?! Time for a big update to make up for the lack of posting this week!

I've been productive today; got up early despite my neighbour being relentlessly noisy until the early hours and sent off my big box of books and souvenirs/knick-knacks home to NZ. So glad the post office close to my apartment is also the biggest in the city meaning it opens late evenings, holidays and weekends.

That's going to take a few months to get back but it was so cheap! Only 8,000yen ($80ish) for 13kg by boat. 

I'm in no rush anyway as I have no place to keep those things owing to the small issue of having no place to live from August 4th onwards.

I also did some more sorting of clothes/boxes/junk and managed to fill up another bag and extend the line of 'to be disposed' or 'to be given away' down my small corridor a bit more.

Yes, I have a Christmas tree to somehow dispose or give away.

Last night I printed off receipts and tickets of hotels and transport. Having no cellphone is already on my mind so I thought I'd get organised. I even have maps of the place to buy my Edinburgh bus card and what cellphone to get and a map of where to get it.


Never felt so prepared.

Also saw this at the indie cinema just across the car park from where I live so I might go watch it sometime.


So that's all I can think of for now! Time for a coffee, some writing, music and some aircon!

June 20th 2015, Saturday

Had a very 'damn I look good moment this morning'.

 And by that I mean I tried on one of my bras and it was so saggy I had to put it aside but the rest of my bras were in the wash or dirty and there were only two left that had never fit me but I had always held onto. And whaddayouknow! Put both on and they both fit. Size 14 (NZ)!

I've never worn this top before either because I was too self conscious but now! Woo!

June 19th 2015, Friday ~What?! Another Keto Post?!?~

This is yet another keto post.... sorry. But I just realised after my last post that my 14.5kg loss puts me more than a third of the way down to my goal weight (65kg). At the rate I'm going, in another 5months I'll be at that goal weight...

That's crazy.

And definitely a good reason to keep fighting on with this weight loss.

The issue will be maintaining that 65kg (or less... we'll see when we get there!)

Just so I can remind myself later here are some of the great benefits so far from this diet:
+ no acid reflux
+ no need for lunch (money saving)
+ finally fitting into Japanese H&M pants sizes
+ feeling good about myself
+ having more energy to be social after work and on weekends
+ getting lighter for the big move to the UK
+ watching my clothes get more and more loose
+ being able to get out of the house
+ loving the food I'm eating

Anyway! Still no journal entry sorry! But I'm taking this afternoon off because I'm falling apart a bit and need some time to myself.

June 16th-18th 2015, Tuesday to Thursday ~ A Keto Diet Rundown Post ~

So with life being a bit chaotic at the moment and my journals having to remain private for a while I thought I'd address some more keto stuff which (despite the stress and crap going on) I have managed to stick to for the past 10weeks.

I've done updates before but I thought this time I would go into a bit more detail about what I eat and how I keep track of what I'm putting in my body.
You'll have seen in my previous updates this app from my phone. It's MyFitnessPal; possibly the most common and comprehensive diet and exercise tracking tool. As it is I don't track my exercise (mostly walking) but everyday I put in everything that I eat.

Breakfast: Canned Tuna (sea chicken), mixed leafy greens, half an avocado, and some caesar salad dressing.
Lunch: Nothing (if I'm peckish then a couple bits of dark chocolate or a sugar-free polo mint perhaps)
Hand rolled sushi for tonight (no rice of course)
Mayonaise, seaweed, chicken, salmon and
some soy sauce
Looks like I enjoyed some dark
chocolate this day
When you enter everything you eat the data is added and put into a nice summary for you.
You can also custom set your macros to the numbers you need for your diet.
I got my numbers from the keto calculator. However, while carbs look like they have gone
over the limit, the carbs I calculate are 'carbohydrates' minus 'fiber' which equals my net carbs.
MFP is not smart enough to work out net carbs.

how I spent my calories. Mostly on dinner
as you can see.

my nutrition today. Mostly on fat, a good
amount on protein and a little on carbs
(although this is still the wrong number of
carbs due to the inclusion of fiber)
Since I wrote this post I actually woke up this morning to a big drop! My scales screwed up yesterday and I couldn't weight in but when I did today I'd hit 14.5kg lost! Crazy! Almost under 90kg.. Just gotta keep calm and keto on.

No journal again today (might not be able to post them again for a while due to some things going on). In the meantime enjoy some bonus things. I'll try and post at least something from each day.

Today I cleaned up my apartment (or shoved things into a corner) so I could take photos of it for my successor. Thought you might enjoy a peek into my room (although a lot has already been packed/organized away).

Sofa bed and TV. This is essentially my whole apartment.

Slightly less messy desk area than usual. You can see where it connects to the rest of the room thanks to my pink sofa bed.
